The Quinns are my clients since 2018, and Tania and her husband are kind people; her kids are always so cooperative and happy, two cute brothers who always have each other’s back!
Tania contacted me to do her family session for this year; little did I know all that they have been through, she told me about it, and I immediately knew I have to do something for them. I gift her a full family photoshoot, and I’m so glad I did.
Tania allowed me to share her story, this what she wrote:
My husband was diagnosed with stomach cancer in August 2019. He’s gone through 8 rounds of chemo and five weeks of radiation and chemo pills. He had his stomach remove last December. His recovery from that surgery was hard. It was really hard seeing him go through it. Radiation and chemo pills were the hardest treatment. He finished his treatments in May and all his CT scans and endoscopies since then show no signs of cancer!
Honestly, it’s probably the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through in my life. I kept reminding myself that it could be worse, that we were lucky to have health insurance and have a roof over our heads. We were also lucky to have friends and family step in to help whenever I needed them to watch the boys or take Justin to an appointment.
To no fault of anyone, I honestly felt like a single mom for about a year doing everything- cooking, cleaning, running errands, taking the boys to and from school, and taking care of Justin. I wore many hats that year. It was hard, but I got through it. Justin showed strength and tried his best to remain optimistic. Of course, Justin was in physical pain, but he pushed through it.
The boys knew daddy was sick, but we tried not to make a big deal about it. We told them that daddy would get better even if it looks like the medicine is making it worse. The boys actually buzzed his hair and beard before he started chemo, so it wouldn’t be shocking to them once his hair started to fall out. They thought it was fun to buzz daddy’s hair!
Thank you Tania, for letting me share this & allowing me to capture your memories each year. I admire you, your husband, and babies, because you all have been through a lot on top of COVID & keep going strong!
